Spring 2022 Updates
Thursday, January 6, 2022
Houston Christian University is concerned for the health and well-being of each member of our campus community. As the Omicron variant of COVID-19 becomes more prominent, we want to communicate to you the steps we are taking and the steps we encourage you to take to reduce the spread of COVID and to minimize its impact on our campus.
What HCU Is Doing
In-person classes will take place on campus. Our ARAMARK facility services will continue to sanitize our campus buildings diligently, and the CIMR system units distributed into many of our campus classrooms and offices will still be fully operational. Our Husky Strong Task Force will also continue to monitor the progression of the Omicron variant in our area and on campus to make additional adjustments as needed throughout the semester.
We expect that the spring will be more challenging than we might have thought a month ago, but we are also more hopeful than ever before that these challenges might soon be behind us. Let’s take responsibility for ourselves, care well for one another and come together stronger on the other side.
What We Encourage You to Do
Get vaccinated and boosted. Vaccination has been shown to reduce the severity of COVID infections and makes a major disruption of your semester less likely. Vaccination is available at no cost at many locations throughout Houston, including at the Memorial Hermann Neighborhood Health Center – Southwest next to campus. We encourage those who can do so to receive their vaccination and/or a booster as soon as they are eligible.
Stay abreast of changing guidelines. Depending on your personal health situation and vaccination status, we recommend that you stay abreast of current CDC guidelines and take appropriate precautionary measures. Here is a link to the current CDC guidelines.
We look forward to having everyone back in class for the spring semester!
Until then,
Husky Strong Task Force
