Masks Will Still Be Required On Campus

Friday, March 5, 2021

Following Governor Abbott’s issuance of Executive Order GA-34, the Husky Strong Task Force met to consider campus conditions and safety. As allowed in the Governor’s order, HBU will maintain all current masking, social distancing, and disinfecting activities through the end of the spring semester.

In preparation for Spring Break, the University wants to remind all faculty, staff, and students of the importance of maintaining our collective vigilance against the spread of COVID-19. Please consider limiting travel and unnecessary exposure to others, as well as adherence to masking protocols over the Spring Break week. As a reminder, free COVID-19 testing will be available on campus following Spring Break on Monday and Tuesday, March 22 and 23, from 8 a.m. through 3 p.m. in the Atwood II parking lot for both walk-ups and drive-through service.

Finally, we are excited to be making plans to resume fully in-person classes and campus occupancy this fall! According to current reports, the COVID-19 vaccine should be widely available by the end of May, allowing everyone who chooses to receive the vaccine to do so prior to the beginning of the Fall 2021 semester.

The Husky Strong Task Force will continue to meet and provide guidance throughout this process.

Thank you and God bless.
