We Will All Be Back Together
Monday, July 19, 2021
It is hard to believe that Move-In and Welcome Days are only a month away. Normally, we would all be returning to campus after a three month summer break; this fall, we are finally all coming back together after an 18 month disruption by COVID-19.
While we are so blessed to return to normalcy, there are still some recommendations and precautions that will make the fall semester successful for students, faculty, and staff.
Vaccinations – although we are not requiring everyone to be vaccinated, we are strongly encouraging you to do so. As of June 1, over 80% of faculty, staff, and students self-reported that they either had been or intended to be vaccinated. Our ability to be together again works best when everyone is fully vaccinated. As members of the HCU family, we are asking you to care for yourself and those around you by getting vaccinated by August 30. Memorial Hermann Southwest, next to the University, is offering free, walk-in vaccinations every weekday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Quarantining – our Residence Halls are filling up fast; therefore, any student who develops COVID-19 symptoms or tests positive for the virus should make every effort to return home since we anticipate that space on campus for students to isolate or quarantine will be extremely limited.
Facilities – since June 1, masking and social distancing are no longer required on campus. Therefore, all classrooms, gathering spaces, and buildings on campus will be back to 100% capacity. Our ARAMARK facility services will continue to sanitize diligently, and the CIMR system units will still be fully operational. We look forward to utilizing all of our campus facilities at capacity again this fall.
Classes will begin on August 30 for what we believe will be the best fall ever!
Thank you and God bless.
