Most of our departments have modified their services or usual support model to take safety precautions into account.

Academic Success Center and Tutoring Services

  • Tutoring and academic support services will be provided by the Academic Success Center (ASC) virtually and in-person on the first floor of the Moody Library.
  • Appointments can be made online through Navigate or in-person at the ASC reception desk. The ASC reception desk will be supported 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
  • Tutoring and academic support services will be available from January 19 through May 7.

Bradshaw Fitness Center

  • The Bradshaw Fitness Center is open to students and other members. The safety of all of our members, as well as staff, is of the utmost priority to us. We will adhere to Texas guidelines and require all members to follow the specific patron guidelines as well. All participants will be required to comply with all guidelines of the HCU Bradshaw Fitness Center and sign the new BFC waiver.

Career and Calling

    • Services and appointments to assist students in identifying their calling or preparing for their career will be available physically on campus or conducted virtually.

CLW Credits

The Community Life and Worship program allows students to choose and participate in a variety of activities from on-campus worship services to small group Bible studies designed to foster a deepening faith and a life of discipleship.  For all students, whether taking courses in person or through our Pampell Online offerings, attendance and participation in these events will lead to completion of their Spiritual Life graduation requirement of 80 CLW credits. Students may earn CLW-A credits by attending in-person Convocation on  Wednesdays in Dunham Theater from 11:00-11:50 a.m. and on Thursdays in Belin Chapel from 4:00-4:50 p.m. Safety precautions are being taken to ensure that students have the safest and most beneficial experience as possible during these in-person Convocations. In addition to Convocation, there are numerous opportunities to obtain CLW-B credits remotely and Spring 2021 CLW-B opportunities can be found on the website at HCU Community Life and Worship.

Financial Aid

The Financial Aid office is available, on campus or remotely, to assist students in obtaining maximum financial assistance.  You can now make virtual appointments with financial aid counselors through Navigate (inside the student portal at

Tuition and fees will not be reduced as we provide a full range of instructional support, student services, extracurricular activities, intercollegiate sports, and an excellent learning experience motivated by our Christian mission. Also, investments in instructional technology and enhanced sanitization procedures have resulted in increased costs.

Information Technology Services

In response to COVID-19 measures, the Information Technology Services (ITS) Help Desk has modified its hours to Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until further notice. You may contact the Help Desk via the portal, at 281-649-3410,, or by walk-in at Brown 218.

Learning Accommodations

1. Students with disabilities have the option of requesting an accommodation to attend both sessions of the hybrid format. They must indicate this preference to the instructor of each course they wish to attend 100% in person. Disability Services will be notified of that request, and then verify the request is in harmony with their registered and documented disability(ies). Faculty will then receive an accommodation letter asking that the student be able to attend both sessions.

2. Due to the COVID guidelines, taking classroom notes will be a challenge for students with disabilities. Therefore, please remind all students that recorded classroom sessions are an excellent manner to gain access to classroom notes. With the use of Panopto, the students gain captioning and a transcription of each classroom recording. They can also replay the recording if needed.

3. Preferential seating in the classroom may benefit students with disabilities. Again, due to COVID guidelines, hearing and comprehending lectures could be a challenge. Closest to the professor most likely would be the best case scenario.

4. The understanding and willingness to provide extended time and flexibility with due dates could be quite necessary for students with disabilities during the  hybrid/remote presentation format.

    • If a faculty member is wearing a mask or face shield, a student with a disability may have trouble accessing all information presented. Therefore, additional time to access the recorded sessions, readings, and to digest the material effectively may be required.
    • Written requirements may take more time due to the challenges mentioned above.
    • If a student with a disability is completely remote, then the extended time and flexibility with due dates will be particularly important.

5. It is highly recommended that faculty ask students with accommodations to make a connection with a classmate or two, and gain access to their phone number, email, or some way they can communicate with that classmate. This could help the student gain further clarification or understanding of assignments, expectations, and requirements.

6. Disability Services always recommends that students with disabilities connect and communicate with their professors at the beginning of a term so that they can clarify and collaborate regarding how their accommodations will work. It is also recommended that, if possible, faculty reach out to students who have accommodations, and discuss the dynamics as well.

Looper Learning Commons

  • The open area on the bottom floor of Moody Library has both laptop kiosks and desktop stations — with camera and lockdown browser for students to take exams — open to students daily.
  • Capacity will be limited to 45 students to facilitate safe social distancing.
  • Masks are required at all times in the Learning Commons (and all public indoor spaces on campus).
  • All social distancing practices are in place, cleaning supplies for equipment and seats are available as well as hand sanitizing stations.
  • Library hours:
    • Monday – Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
    • Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Saturday: noon to 6 p.m.
    • Sunday: closed

Residential WiFi Improvements

HCU has invested in a cutting-edge residential network (ResNet).  Students now have access to a state-of-the-art, high-speed, reliable Wi-Fi network in all eleven residential buildings, many older buildings and the Hodo Residence College. With an access point in each room, students will have blazing-fast Internet to interact in online classes, videoconferences and their favorite apps. Spiritual Life

  • All HCU faculty, staff, students and alumni are provided free access to RightNow Media, which offers 14,000 Bible study videos that can be instantly streamed. Create your own access and profile using by texting RIGHTNOW HCU to 41411.
