Guidelines for School of Fine Arts

1. Ensemble based classrooms, such as University Singers, Schola Cantorum, or the like, should utilize larger rehearsal spaces and proper distancing. Singer spacing of three feet from shoulder to shoulder and six feet front to back should be utilized. While not singing, facial coverings must be utilized.
2. One-on-one instruction for independent studies should be conducted remotely, utilizing teleconferencing technology as the primary means of communication. If an in-person meeting is required, both faculty and student must wear facial coverings.
3. One-on-one instruction for vocal or instrumental studios or any variation thereof must follow proper social distancing standards as allowable by function of instruction. The instructor must wear a facial covering while the student performs and maintain a proper distance from the student during the performance. Students playing instruments that do not require the use of the mouth should wear a proper facial covering along with the instructor. It is recognized that faculty members may have to remove the facial covering for the purpose of instruction, in which case distancing themselves from the student will be necessary. It may also be necessary to employ larger classroom spaces for vocal or instrumental studios. If accompaniment is utilized, the pianist or musician must wear a facial covering.
4. One-on-one instruction for art studios must follow proper social distancing standards including the use of facial coverings by both faculty and student. Where possible, the piece or pieces being critiqued should be removed from the personal art studio and brought to a larger space to give ample spacing between student and instructor.
