APA Style and Chicago Style Manual Guide: Links and Introduction
The American Psychological Association initiated the APA style to establish a set of norms for publications. It includes a series of standards to assist researchers or authors in achieving precise, exact, and remarkable writings. Individuals from psychology, nursing, education, business, engineering, and other disciplines utilize it to prepare scholarly papers, dissertations, and thesis manuscripts.
HCU Moody Library offers links, tips and video resources on how to write academic and professional papers. Click here to access the webpage.
The Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) offers diverse information on preparing manuscript, documentation, usage, and grammar accessibility. It is considered the “editor’s bible”, and it is an essential tool for editors, proofreaders, copywriters, publishers, and designers.
The Chicago-style source citations address two styles:
- The notes and bibliography system is mostly preferred by students and professionals in the humanity field; literature, history, and the arts. Citation is done in numbered footnotes or endnotes and a separate bibliography.
2. The author-date system is applied mainly in the sciences and social sciences settings. Citation sources are cited in the text, in parentheses, indicating the author’s last name and year of publication.
