Houston Christian University’s Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu classes offer a unique opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu, build confidence, and transform yourself mentally and physically. Classes are available for kids and adults at HCU’s Bradshaw Fitness Center. Our experienced instructors provide an environment that is safe, fun, and empowering for everyone.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art form that focuses on grappling techniques to influence an actively resisting opponent and bring them to submission. It is an excellent, effective form of exercise for both body and mind.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is based on the fundamental technique of taking your opponent to the ground. From there, you can strive for dominant control positions to take away their ability to harm you. This method of fighting is generally considered easier than staying in a standing position.
The key to success in this sport is to control and overcome greater size, strength, and aggression with lesser size and strength. This is achieved by utilizing superior leverage, grip, and position against one’s opponent. Through studying this sport, students gain a deep understanding of the workings and limits of the human body.
Acquiring this kind of knowledge is a taxing process both mentally and physically, but with it comes the power to subdue or dominate an adversary depending on how you wish to use it.

Membership options are available for both the general public and HCU students. We offer kids classes as well as adult classes for all levels from beginners to experienced adults. Explore the fundamentals or grow and develop advanced skills with HCU’s Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu classes.
All Renzo Gracie members who primarily train at the HCU Campus will have access to the other Renzo Gracie affiliate academies as well, for no additional charge.
Additionally, Renzo Gracie adult members at the HCU Campus will have a FREE membership to the Bradshaw Fitness Center!
