Notice of Nondiscrimination Policy

Houston Christian University admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

This nondiscrimination policy covers admission, access, and operation of University programs and activities. However, if a student requires special personal services or equipment, the student will be responsible for the associated expenses.  This includes, but is not limited to, the expense of providing such things as medical technicians, personal tutors, and attendants.

The University is governed by an all Christian Board of Trustees and is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas.  As a religious institution of higher education, Houston Christian University is exempt from some provisions of certain civil rights laws, including some provisions of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.

Title IX Non-Discrimination Notice

In accordance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Houston Christian University (HCU) does not engaged in prohibited discrimination on the basis of sex in its educational programs and activities, including with respect to admission and employment. As a religious institution of higher education, HCU is exempt from some provisions of Title IX that are not consistent with its religious tenets.  To submit a report or complaint of sex discrimination or sexual harassment, contact the Title IX Coordinator, who will promptly take appropriate steps as described in HCU’s Title IX Policy to stop, prevent, and remedy sex discrimination or sexual harassment.

The Title IX Coordinator has been designated to handle or coordinate inquiries regarding the application of Title IX and HCU’s Title IX Policy.
