Dr. Robert B. Sloan, Jr. Memorial

It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of Dr. Robert Bryan Sloan, Jr., on July 4, 2026. The HCU community mourns this loss, and our hearts and prayers are with First Lady Sue Sloan, their children and their grandchildren.

A memorial service and reception was held on Friday, July 10 in the Linda and Archie Dunham theater of the Joella and Stewart Morris Cultural Arts Center on the campus of Houston Christian University.

Since its chartering, HCU has had many influential leaders. Through the guidance of the founding fathers to the current president, deans and executive council, HCU consistently attracts strong leaders, faculty and students and continues to grow in national prominence.

By cultivating strong academics without losing Christian faith and teachings, HCU’s leaders have grown the University into a thriving learning and living community with a tradition of excellence.
