This Week's Review: The Green Mile

Inclement weather, or the threat thereof, grounded me for the weekend of April 30.  The only film in which I had any interest was Kevin Costner’s Criminal and my interest was slight indeed.  I suspect that I will have to wait a while for the DVD to come out, and I am not holding my breath.

I consoled myself with a great deal of reading and a re-viewing of Tom Hanks in The Green Mile.  That film has held up very nicely and still packs a strong wallop.  I still think the late Micah Clarke Duncan should have received the Oscar for supporting actor.  He was always good, particularly when he portrayed villains, but he outdid himself as the innocent, childlike John Coffee.  If you haven’t seen the film lately, it is worth the time.

The good news is that the drought is almost over; the summer blockbuster season will soon be upon us and we can begin to recover from the trauma of grading final examinations, term papers, etc.
