Derrick Lamar Smith is the Pastor of the Church of St. Andrew in Missouri City, Texas—a church plant of the Anglican Diocese of the Western Gulf Coast—where he leads with a deep commitment to spiritual formation, biblical teaching, and generational discipleship. He is an ordained priest in the Anglican Diocese of the Western Gulf Coast and draws from the richness of the Anglican tradition with clarity, conviction, and warmth.
Known for his engaging preaching style and theological insight, Derrick integrates vivid storytelling, pastoral care, and cultural resonance to guide others into living within the biblical narrative. He is passionate about mentoring emerging leaders, challenging cultural idols, and cultivating Gospel Culture in both church and community. His ministry reflects the rhythms of the African American pastoral tradition, blending cadence and depth to speak timeless truth into today’s world.
Derrick holds degrees from Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi, and the College of Biblical Studies–Houston. He is married to the former Kyra Moody, and they are the proud parents of three: adult sons Darian and Ryan, who reside in Tallahassee, Florida, and their daughter Morgan Grace, age 12.
