Teaching Focus

Professor Aguilar’s teaching interests include programming fundamentals, object-oriented design, data structures and algorithms, computer architecture (RISC-V), operating systems, and web application development. He focuses on backend development and practical software engineering in the classroom.

Research Interests

Interests include software engineering education, web accessibility and ADA-compliant design, and effective pedagogy for first-year CS students, including the thoughtful integration of generative AI tools in higher education.

Personal Interests

Professor Aguilar enjoys spending time with his wife, Aleysa, and their daughters, Alejandra and Mariana. He is a devout Catholic, active in his parish (St Laurence Catholic Church – Sugar Land, TX) as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, and participates in ACTS MEN retreats and the men’s program That Man Is You! He also enjoys cooking Venezuelan parrilla, swimming, and exploring technology tools for teaching and learning.
