Teaching Focus

Dr Cokenour teaches in the Department of Narrative Arts, focusing on the video game design and digital media programs. In addition to necessary artistic and technical skills, he places emphasis upon developing as a collaborator and colleague, helping students be better positioned to succeed professionally, whether in a startup or an established team. His PhD was on C.S. Lewis, and he advocates for the role of the imagination in all areas.

Additional Information

Dr. Cokenour was involved in the early days of virtual reality, managing multimillion-dollar retail centers and developing VR and PC games for a company with a global presence. He has worked on titles published through FASA Studio, MicroProse, and Microsoft. He has experience in several start-ups and continues to collaborate across the digital media industry. Ministerially, Dr Cokenour spent a decade in Budapest, Hungary as a pastor and professor. He has helped start churches across the greater Houston area, worked extensively in fundraising, and taught theology, Bible, and ministry courses for colleges and seminaries in both Europe and America. He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, a life-long musician, husband and father of three children.
