, director of instrumental studies/director of bands, served as the percussion director for the Region 23 Junior High concert band on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Tompkins High School in Katy, Texas. Professor Moore taught percussion sectionals and percussion lessons, and he helped organize the percussion section, comprised of eight students, as they prepared to perform their concert. He was able to teach correct technique and playing style.
Professor Moore was asked to serve in this position after serving as one of the percussion judges for Region 23. Current junior high and high school students are the world’s future musicians, and Professor Moore enjoys helping them improve. Working with younger students in a short period of time challenges him to appropriately adapt his teaching style and find new ways to teach them music.
