On Sunday January 29, 2017, Dr. Edgar Cajas, associate professor in the music department, lead a workshop on Latin American Hymnody and Worship Practices at the 2017 Local Church Leadership Conference of the United Methodist Church Central South District. The event took place at the First United Methodist–Westchase in Houston.
Dr. Edgar Cajas also wrote a chapter on Music Education in Guatemala for the new released book Music Education in the Caribbean and Latin America: A Comprehensive Guide published by Rowman & Littlefield in partnership with the National Association for Music Education. This is the first book ever written in English on the current status of music education in the Caribbean and Latin American countries.
