Houston Baptist University remembers Dr. John Bisagno following his passing on Sunday, August 5. Dr. Bisagno was the pastor of Houston’s First Baptist Church for 30 years, and was a friend of HBU, serving on the University’s Board of Trustees. He is the endowed chair namesake of the HBU John Bisagno Distinguished Professor of Christian Origins, held by Dr. Craig A. Evans.
HBU president, Dr. Robert B. Sloan, said, “At HBU, we join people all over the world in giving thanks for the Christian life and witness of John Bisagno. His service as an HBU trustee was characterized by a great generosity of heart and spirit, a sincere honoring of the Scriptures, and a heart committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Brother John’s love of God and all people enabled him throughout his life to combine two great New Testament offices – evangelist and pastor. His humble Christian zeal, winsome humor, and transparent devotion to Jesus Christ remain an inspiring example to all who knew him.”
