Houston Christian University (HCU) announces the launch of its new Master of Science in Computer and Information Sciences (MS-CIS) program, expanding the University’s graduate offerings in computing and technology and preparing students to meet the evolving demands of today’s technology-driven workforce.
The MS-CIS program is offered in two flexible formats: a 100% online format and a low-residency format combining online coursework with on-campus residency experiences. These options provide flexibility for working professionals seeking to advance their careers as well as students seeking a comprehensive graduate education in computer and information sciences.
The first two courses in the new MS-CIS program are being offered during the Fall 2026 semester, marking an important addition to HCU’s graduate programs in computing and technology.
“The Master of Science in Computer and Information Sciences program responds to the increasing industry need for highly skilled professionals in computer and information systems,” said Dr. Zadok Hakim, Associate Provost for Online Technology at Houston Christian University. “Our goal is to prepare our graduates with the knowledge, technical skills, and practical capabilities needed to meet industry expectations from day one on the job.”
The program emphasizes the connection between academic knowledge and practical application, enabling students to develop advanced expertise while gaining experience with technologies, tools and approaches relevant to today’s organizations.
“We are focused not only on helping our graduates understand and analyze the challenges facing today’s technology-driven industries, but also on preparing them to apply their knowledge and technical skills in practical, real-world environments,” said Dr. Katie Evans, Dean of the College of Science and Engineering at Houston Christian University. “By emphasizing hands-on learning and industry-relevant applications, our goal is to help graduates advance in their organizations or become productive members of their organizations immediately while minimizing the traditional onboarding process.”
The MS-CIS program provides students with advanced knowledge in computer and information sciences while developing practical skills applicable to technology-driven organizations. The curriculum is designed to connect academic learning with the evolving needs of employers across business, technology, healthcare, government, cybersecurity, data and other industries.
