    This course provides students with basic knowledge of Information Systems and Business Analytics and their use for business operations, managerial decision-making, and strategic advantage. The computer hardware, software, and networks are discussed. The development and use of databases and data warehouses are addressed. Various tools and techniques for data interrogation, visualization, presentation, data mining, and predictive analytics are examined. Students will gain hands-on experience and develop skills necessary for working with large data sets from various business areas.

Students explore technical, managerial, and strategic aspects of cybersecurity, emphasizing the role of security in supporting organizational goals and maintaining stakeholder trust. Topics include information security governance, risk management, security policies and controls, network and application security, cryptography fundamentals, identity and access management, business continuity planning, incident response, and emerging threats such as ransomware and social engineering. The course also addresses ethical considerations, privacy, and regulatory frameworks affecting businesses.

    This course provides students an understanding and appreciation of the concepts, methodologies, techniques, tools, and perspectives fundamental for analyzing and designing information systems. After taking this course students will be able to determine the financial and operational impact of information systems and make good decisions about when and how to acquire, design, implement, and outsource information systems for an organization.

  • MIS 4350 PREDICT ANALYTIC & DATA MINING

    This course provides knowledge and practical skills involving contemporary techniques and methods for data mining and predictive analytics. Methods and techniques covered include cluster analysis, associations, multiple and logistic regressions, classification, and regression trees. Several software packages used for contemporary data analytics will be reviewed and compared. The course includes practical experience using MS Excel and IBM SPSS.
