Minor in Great Texts

The 18-hour Minor in Great Texts at Houston Christian University offers an interdisciplinary program for students who want to mine the great works of literature,  exploring connections between historical movements, literary masterpieces and intellectual developments throughout history.  Students who are interested in the interaction between literature, history, classics, government, philosophy, communication, languages and the arts will find much to love about this minor.

Program Overview

The program begins with three required courses that establish a strong foundation in classical and literary studies, followed by nine hours of electives that allow exploration of specialized interests.

  • Shakespeare
  • Classical Mythology
  • Great Texts in History

Elective options include:

  • Upper-level English and History courses
  • Foreign language courses in Spanish and Latin
  • Select courses in Art, Philosophy, Sociology and Government
