Regular participation in Society activities is expected of CCB Fellows. Mentorship Guidelines All CCB Fellows Scholarship recipients must complete a structured mentoring experience, as outlined below: Mentee Responsibilities The CCB will match scholarship recipients (mentees) with mentors from a pool of voluntary Christian business professionals Contact Time – Mentees are required to log a minimum of 12 hours of mentoring over the course of the mentoring period (start of program through following May). Meetings are expected to occur approximately twice per month for at least one hour each. Mentees should schedule virtual and/or in-person meetings in advance according to their academic and extracurricular schedule. The CCB recommends using calendar invites in Outlook to coordinate meetings with mentors CCB Events – Mentees are required to attend and/or volunteer at CCB events throughout the year including the CCB Mentoring Conference and CCB Networking Luncheons. In lieu of event attendance, mentees will work with the CCB Student Worker to identify supplemental marketing activities used to promote the CCB events. The approximate time expected for CCB events participation is 4-5 hours per semester (excluding Society attendance) Preparation and Discussion – Mentees are responsible for preparing questions to guide each mentoring session. Mentees are encouraged to actively engage in discussions to maximize learning Session Summaries – Mentees must submit a summary of the cumulative mentoring experience to the CCB at the end of the mentoring period. It is recommended that mentees keep a brief session summary after each meeting Professional Conduct – All interactions with mentors should be conducted professionally. Both mentors and mentees must adhere to HCU’s policies, mission, vision, and core convictions Final Meeting – At the conclusion of the mentoring period/experience, mentees will meet individually with the CCB Director or designated team member to review the mentoring experience, share feedback, and discuss their overall development Mentor Responsibilities Mentor Pool – Mentors are voluntary Christian business professionals currently engaged in management-level roles, as business owners, or retired from senior executive positions Commitment – Mentors must commit to at least 12 hours of mentoring over the mentoring period, meeting approximately twice per month (August through May). Meetings may occur in person or virtually. Face-to-face meetings, if possible, may include coffee or meals as part of the engagement. The CCB recommends at least 1-2 in person engagements per semester Topics of Discussion – Mentors will provide professional guidance and biblical insights on leadership, ethics, career choices, work-life balance, and strategies for living a purpose-driven life. The goal is to help mentees grow as faithful and competent stewards of God’s creation as they prepare to enter the workplace Professional Conduct – All interactions between mentor and mentee should be conducted professionally. Both mentors and mentees must adhere to HCU’s policies, mission, vision, and core convictions Mutual Assessment and Reporting Both the mentee and mentor will complete a feedback form at the end of the mentoring period. These assessments will help the CCB evaluate the effectiveness of the mentoring relationship and ensure the scholarship requirements are met. CCB staff or Student Worker will document and verify meeting requirements with mentors and mentees at the end of each semester. Mentees who fail to meet the requirements will meet with the CCB Director to evaluate continuation in the program, and scholarship awards in future semesters may be discontinued. Mentees will not be penalized for mentors who are unable to meet the commitment and will meet with the CCB Director to evaluate alternative options for continuation in the program, including a mentor reassignment.
