The Liberty Lab is a space to discuss the past, present, and future of the country.

Housed in the east wing of the Morris Family Center for Law & Liberty, the space displays the six principles of liberty on which our constitutional system of government was founded. These include Natural Law, Popular Sovereignty, Limited Government, Rule of Law, Equality and Civic Virtue. The multi-purpose space also features a timeline of key events in America’s founding. It is used for special HCU classes and seminars.

Dr. Chris Hammons, Director of the Morris Family Center for Law & Liberty, expressed his hopes for the educational space. “We wanted to create a place where we could have important discussions about what we do well as a nation, how to preserve that, and what we can do better, and how to achieve that,” says Hammons.

Equipped with a large video screen for presentations, the thematic space will also serve as the endpoint for public tours of HCU’s Independence Hall, a near-replica of Philadelphia’s iconic Independence Hall, the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. The room can be rented for public use and configured for classes, special lectures, book discussions, small-group meetings, and more.

Dr. Hammons hopes that the Liberty Lab will “remind people of the nation’s important principles and help frame discussions as to why they are important.”
