Culture Influencers: Jason Lester

Dr. Jason Lester, dean of the School of Fine Arts and professor of music, served as governor for the 66th annual Texoma National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Regional Conference held at West Texas A&M University on November 2-5, 2016. This conference included multiple Artist Series presentations, a Guest Recital by international operatic star Twyla Robinson, a performance of Menotti’s opera The Medium, a master class with renowned teacher Julie Simson, Summer Program Auditions, Edward Baird Singer of the Year competition, and the Student Auditions Competition. Approximately 700 students, teachers, and pianists registered and competed in this year’s conference from universities across Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. As governor, Dr. Lester organized, coordinated, and managed the various aspects of the conference.

Dr. Lester is honored to be HBU’s first Texoma Governor, which has accelerated the positive standing of the University’s music program across the region and within the national organization.
