This year’s Mayfield Outstanding Staff Awards recognized two individuals whose service and dedication embody the heart of HCU: Maievsky (Mai) Borges and Stanley Tso.
The Mayfield Awards, named in honor of Dr. Ray V. Mayfield, Sr. and his son, Dr. Ray V. Mayfield, Jr., recognize one male and one female staff member annually for outstanding job performance and service to the University and the community. Recipients are chosen by a committee based on nominations received from faculty and staff during the spring semester.
Borges, a Student Success Specialist in the Office of the Provost and Student Affairs, was honored for the profound care and support she provides students during their transition to university life.
“Mai was recognized for her commitment to the students, for the way she pours into their lives, and the difference that she makes in that transition to university life,” shared Sharon Saunders, Vice President of Advancement & Alumni Relations.
Stanley Tso, Director of the Morris Cultural Arts Center and Technical Director in the University Events & Conferences department, was recognized for his leadership and excellence in university events, helping create meaningful experiences across campus.
“Stanley is recognized for all he does as the leader in the events team to oversee activities such as galas, campus activities [and] external events,” shared Saunders.
Other finalists selected for the Mayfield Outstanding Staff Awards included Jo Beth MacTavish, Lindsey Herera, Blake Swanson and Josh Bostanic. Each finalist was acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to the University, reflecting the high caliber of staff at HCU.
The Mayfield Outstanding Staff Awards continue to honor individuals who exemplify the spirit of service and excellence that Dr. Ray V. Mayfield, Sr. and Dr. Ray V. Mayfield, Jr. embodied. Through their dedication and hard work, Borges and Tso have set a standard for all staff members, inspiring others to serve with passion and commitment to the University’s mission.
Congratulations to both Mai and Stanley for the incredible ways they serve the HCU community every day.
