HCU students, faculty and staff seek to grow and help others grow spiritually through a variety of campus ministries. Our Spiritual Life Department partners especially closely with the following ministries. Each of them holds convictions that align with the University’s; collaborates with the ministry of HCU Spiritual Life; and also provides a distinctive biblical approach to community-building, discipleship, evangelism, service, and mission that complements our work and provides diverse opportunities for mission and ministry to match the personal needs of each student.

Navigators are about getting “to know Christ, make him known, and helping others do the same” within a friendly community of students and staff. We believe that Jesus Christ desires for every person to repent, believe in him, become his disciple, and is commissioned to help others become his disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). Navigators invest time with individuals and in small groups in Bible discussions, Bible studies, extended time alone with God, prayer, and evangelism, as well as a Fall retreat, our Spring Break trip, and our Disciple Making Intensive (2 weeks in Florida, early summer of 2026). We also have a summer mission trip to Kenya.

Ratio Christi is Latin for “the reason for Christ.” We are an apologetics and evangelism mission society that equips students with the tools and skills to defend their faith and share it with others. Our chapter is a diverse, student-led community of students that want to put Jesus first in all aspects of their lives. While our ministry is stationed at HCU, we also maintain a focus on the nations. By seeking to obey Christ by completing the Great Commission, we are launching a new initiative to reach the nations and equip the global church, reach the lost, and teach apologetics and theology throughout the world. We hope that you will join us and grow in your faith as we seek to serve Jesus together.
- Devotions at Java: Monday–Thursdays | 9:00–9:30 a.m. | As Christians, starting our day with the Word and prayer is essential. We will be spending our devotional time by reading a chapter of the Bible together and asking God to make us into his likeness through prayer.
- Afternoon Teatime: Monday–Thursdays | 3:00–4:00 p.m. | We will meet in Atwood 1 for a relaxing time of fellowship with coffee, tea, and snacks to refresh our day. We trust the conversations we share will be as rich as the snacks and beverages we will enjoy together.
- Ratio Christi Ministry Meeting: Tuesdays | 7:00–8:30 p.m. | Dillon 1 | 1 CLW-B | Ratio Christi is a vibrant community that takes seriously the global community. Before each meeting, there will be a community meal. After a time of fellowship, we will cover interesting topics about the Christian faith & its relationship to the world we live in.
- Bible Study: Wednesdays | 4:00–5:00 p.m. | Immediately following our Wednesday afternoon teatime, we will have a student-led inductive Bible study. Bring your questions and broaden your understanding of Scripture, doctrine, and theology as we look through to the Word as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.
- Worldview Discipleship Training w/ Nancy Pearcey: Thursdays | 5:00–6:00 p.m. | Hinton 113 | Nancy Pearcey is widely regarded as one of the world’s top Christian thinkers and is an expert at teaching Christians how to approach difficult subjects thoughtfully and be equipped to face current challenges in their culture. Join Ratio Christi for this small-group experience that is as thoughtful as it is soul-building. These classes will be life-changing!
- Community Meetings: Throughout the semester we have social events either on campus or in the homes of our leaders. These events range from movie nights and outings in Galveston, to exploring the local restaurants in Chinatown and end of the semester BBQs.
- Mission Trips: Our Ratio Christi Chapter is committed to missions. As a chapter, we will take at least one mission trip per year to a foreign country, but there will be several mission opportunities every year for those who are adventurous.

The Anglican Campus Ministry exists to build campus communities where students are discipled together into Christlikeness in the Anglican way. Whether you are Anglican or not, we invite you on our journey towards the Triune God as we inhabit the theological riches and liturgical rhythms of the Anglican tradition so that we may joyfully embrace the gospel Christ offers us through Word and Sacrament.- Canterbury Nights: This is a weekly gathering of fellowship over free food that is marked by catechesis and evening prayer from the Book of Common Prayer. Tuesdays | 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. | Cullen Parlor | 1 CLW-B
- Anselm House: Inspired by Anselm of Canterbury’s desire to have a “faith seeking understanding,” Anselm House is a biweekly small group that meets over a homemade meal to pray with the help of the Book of Common Prayer and to read and discuss great texts from the Christian tradition. All reading occurs at the meeting through handouts, so no prior reading is required. Saturdays | 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Location: TBD.
- Psalm 63 Mornings: David prays in Psalm 63:1, “O God, You are my God; early will I seek You” (NKJV). To this end, we will gather each morning and alternate between praying the Book of Common Prayer’s morning prayer service and practicing Lectio Divina together with passages from the Gospels. This is a wonderful opportunity if you want to grow in Christian community and in your consistency with spiritual disciplines. Mondays – Fridays | 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. | Hodo Chapel.
- Spiritual Direction: If you would like to be discipled or receive counsel from ministry leaders, we would love to connect you with a leader or priest on staff.
