Notes

Enclosures:

  • Certificate of Baptism for Michael Johns, baptized February 6, 1955 in south forth Worth Baptist Church by Pastor Roy E. Ladd.
  • Another listing of family records, not on formal Bible pages, gives some contradicting dates:
    • Marvin Hearn born August 7, 1878.
    • Grace Hearn born May 26, 1880
    • Jessie Hearn born January 18, 1885
    • Annie Lee Hearn born December 7, 1887
    • Willie Hayes died December 14, 1894. Age 2 years, 10 months, 18 days.
  • Includes newspaper clippings – poems, tributes and obituaries.  From them, we see that W. A. Hern’s father came to Texas in 1838, and that W.A. Hearn himself became a notable Christian citizen of Clay County.
  • Handwritten poem taped onto page:

Home

My broke hip hurts, I cannot sleep.

I wanted tossing, instead of weep.

For happy thoughts, raced thru my mind

As are expressed in following lines.

I’m gong Home. I’m on my way

To my Heavenly Home. There to stay

Or by faith I can see.

Loved ones with Jesus waiting for me.

And when I reach that Golden Shore.

I’ll meet those I’ve prayed for One and One.

No Joys on Earth can compare,

To the Joys we will Share over There.

The little I’ve done while here I roam

To merit this wonderful Home.

If can hear, “Well done my child you tried”

Then Oh! Then I’ll be Satisfied.
