Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction Online About the Curriculum and Instruction Masters Online

The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program is a 36-hour non-licensure program that provides expertise related to curriculum content and instructional methodology. In this program, individuals can increase their knowledge and skills without pursuing a certification or specialization. You do not need to be a certified teacher to complete this degree.

This degree program offers the student 18 hours of core curriculum in the area of school reform, curriculum development, teaching methodology, research and technology integration. Then the student is given 18 hours of electives in the area of education. These elective areas can include coursework related to special education, instructional technology or ESL. The student will be recommended for graduation when they have completed 36 semester hours and passed a comprehensive examination.

This degree offers students additional expertise in the area of education while also allowing them to take a variety of courses across many areas in education. Throughout the program, students develop knowledge and skills through working with children and teachers.

Admission Requirements
  1. Official Transcripts – Official transcripts should be sent directly to OnlineVerification@HC.edu from the college or university that awarded your bachelor’s degree. Transcripts from any additional coursework since that time should also be submitted.
  2. References – Applicants must provide contact information for two (2) references on their application. References must be a principal or supervisor, parent of a taught student, or colleague. One must be for a campus or school district leader if applicant is a certified teacher. Friends and family members should not be listed as references.
  3. Résumé/CV – Applicants must provide a current resume or CV. Documents may be sent to OnlineVerification@HC.edu.
  4. Interview – An interview may be required as part of the admission process.
