The Music minor at Houston Christian University provides students with a strong foundation in music theory, performance and appreciation through a carefully structured 19-credit hour program. Students develop their musical talents while studying with professor-mentors in small classes that foster individual growth and lifelong relationships. The program offers exciting opportunities to participate in renowned ensembles like Schola Cantorum, University Singers, Opera Workshop and University Bands, while experiencing performances by Houston’s world-class cultural organizations including the Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet.

  • Music Theory and Theory Lab (3 hours, based on Theory Placement Exam)
  • Music Literature I and II (6 hours)
  • Primary Applied Music Study (4 hours)
  • Class Piano (2 semesters)
