Career and Calling

The Office of Career and Calling at Houston Christian University is the centralized career resource for all majors. We prepare all of our students for the World of Business beginning in the very first year of college, and the career coaching and developing of our students continues throughout the undergraduate years into graduate school and beyond. We connect students with employers.

Our mission statement: The Office of Career and Calling seeks to provide assistance for students and alumni in exploring one’s life calling through personal discovery, vocational exploration, and educational training. Our “adopted” scripture: Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” – Isaiah 30:21

The Fall 2019 Work-Study & On-Campus Job Fair is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 1pm – 3pm. This event is designed so that students who have Work-Study benefits can speak with department representatives who are looking to hire student workers, as well as other on-campus job opportunities for current students.

Our Career Fairs require professional attire, an approved resume, and registration through HCU’s Hire-A-Husky system. For students who do not currently have professional attire, HCU partners with Career Gear and Dress For Success Houston to provide free suits for students attending a Career Fair and/or interview. Students interested must come to the Office of Career & Calling. In all things the Office of Career and Calling prepares Huskies for the real world. These are all things that a job applicant would have to do in a job search. Students as early as their Freshman year are exposed and prepared for the job search process.

The next “save-the-date” would be for Tuesday, September 10 from 4pm-6pm. Each semester we host a Mock Interview & Resume Clinic that pairs employers with students. This event give students an opportunity to get his/her resume critiqued and practice interviewing with employers who want to meet HCU students. All students at all levels are encouraged to attend.
