Cathy Wheatley 2024-26 Guild President Dear Ladies of the Guild, What an exciting year this is as we continue to celebrate our 50th Anniversary! The University is honoring us at the Spirit of Excellence Gala on November 6, so please plan to attend the Gala to share in this great honor. I am so grateful for each of you and your dedication to our Guild. Because of your efforts, we were able to award $102,000 in Annual Scholarships to graduate students in Education and Theology for this academic year, along with our eight Endowed Scholarships. And there is more exciting news to come about The Guild Scholarship Program! Earlier this month I had the pleasure of attending the Institute in Christian Family Studies event, Adventure Awaits, a teaching symposium exploring new horizons in teaching, learning and research. This event, chaired by Dr. Katie Alaniz, culminated with a luncheon honoring The Guild and featured a discussion among a panel of Guild Scholars and HCU’s Head Basketball Coach Craig Doty. It was enlightening to hear our Guild scholarship recipients share how their work is shaping today’s educational environments. And plans are well underway for more upcoming Guild events … Our annual Christmas Luncheon is slated for December 5. Co-Chairs Robin Phillips and Trish Greaser have been diligently organizing this year’s event. This is a wonderful way to introduce new faces to The Guild, as we truly celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. March 17, 2026, is a special day for a Special Event celebrating our Golden Anniversary! Jennifer Townsen, Carol McGaughey and Martha Downs are chairing this event which has been 50 years in the making! Cyndi Jacobson and Justin Avery are planning a fabulous Silver Tea in April, and we are so privileged to have Elizabeth Stevenson serve as Underwriting Chair again this year. The Silver Tea will allow us to continue our legacy of supporting Graduate Scholarships. As I reflect on this past year and look forward to this coming year, I feel a renewed desire to really make a difference in the field of Education by sending more Christian teachers and administrators into our schools. The news headlines are clear: God has been left out of the secular education system far too long! Each generation deserves the opportunity to have lessons taught from a Biblical view. HCU allows that education to continue by nurturing teachers based on the authoritative Word of God. Thank you for joining me as we continue our mission to support HCU as “we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18 In His Love, Cathy Wheatley
