The Latest Updates on HCU Parking Lots

July 22, 2025 | Freshman Parking Areas and Faculty/Staff Parking Passes

Freshman Parking
All freshman students will park in two designated areas: Lot #11 and the newly constructed Lot #13. Please view the map below to see where each of these lots is located.

Faculty/Staff
Starting this year, every member of HCU’s faculty and staff must have the Houston Christian University sticker displayed on their vehicle.

While previously the old HBU stickers were accepted, we are now requiring the new HCU stickers, since many of the old stickers are becoming too faded or peeled to be legible.

Your HCU faculty/staff parking sticker does not expire, so if you already have one you are good to go!

Please Note

  • You must fill out the vehicle registration form to receive your updated sticker.
  • New stickers can be picked up from the HCU Police Department office in the Bradshaw Fitness Center.

June 4, 2025 | Lots #5 and #6 Now Open

As of Wednesday, June 4, Lots #5 and #6 are fully completed and open for use. Thank you for your patience!

May 8, 2025 Update

Beginning Monday, May 12, we will implement a phased closure of multiple parking lots:

Closure Schedule

  • Lot 10: Closes first, beginning Monday, May 12
  • Lot 6: Will close before Lot 10 reopens, creating a period when both lots are unavailable simultaneously
  • Lot 5: Will close following the closure of Lot 6

Please view the map below to see where each of these lots is located.

Important Notes

  • Even after construction in Lot 10 is completed, it may remain inaccessible until work on the connecting drive associated with Lot 6 is finished
  • Weather conditions may affect the exact timing of these closures
  • Lot 7 will remain available to accommodate resident parking needs

We understand these closures will create temporary inconvenience, especially during the period when both Lots 10 and 6 are simultaneously closed. Thank you again for your continued patience as we work to improve our campus.

May 2, 2025 Update

Effective Monday, May 5, Lot #4 will be permanently closed for the construction of the Smith Engineering, Science and Nursing Building.

The boulevard connecting Fondren and Beechnut remains open, but Lots #2 and #3 will only be accessible via Gate 1.

These closures are depicted on the map below:

April 7, 2025 Update

We’re pleased to provide an update on our ongoing campus parking improvement project. Lot 1C will be closed from March 31 to April 11 for expansion work. All affected user groups have been notified and project communications have been completed.

Looking ahead, Lot 10 will close for renovation beginning May 12. We have additional plans in development for redesign and small expansions of Lots 6 and 5, with dates to be determined. Lot 4 closure timing is uncertain; much depends on the permitting process with the City of Houston. We will announce it as soon as we know, and our communication approach will remain responsive, responding to project milestones as they occur.

Besides Lot 4, the rest of the parking improvement project is expected to be completed after graduation and before the end of June, well ahead of fall semester preparations. Please note that this timeline is tentative and subject to weather and seasonal considerations.

Overflow Parking Lot Details
March 13, 2025

The new overflow parking lot across Belin Drive, just south of the Pillars shopping center, will be open on Monday, March 17.

This lot will provide approximately 200 additional parking spaces to the north of campus and includes a new sidewalk for safe pedestrian access. See the label “New Parking Lot” on the map below for more details:Updated Parking Map

Construction in Lots 1A & 1B

Following the opening of the overflow lot, the construction team will begin work on March 17 to combine and expand Lots 1A & 1B. This project will ultimately add approximately 50 additional parking spaces and includes:

• Paving the grassy area between the two lots
• Paving portions of the existing gravel near the retention area
• Re-striping to optimize the entire space

What to Expect During Construction

• Lots 1A & 1B will remain partially open throughout the construction period
• Certain areas will be closed, reducing the total available spaces temporarily
• Construction in Lots 1A & 1B is scheduled from March 17-28

Alternative Parking Options

During this transition, please consider these alternatives

• The new overflow lot across Belin Drive
• Lots 2, 3, and 4 remain fully open and available
• Any HCU parking pass holder may also park at the Bradshaw Fitness Center or the Triangle Lot

Please direct any questions or concerns about these parking changes to Brian Barton (bbarton2@hc.edu).

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as the University works to improve campus facilities.
