July 9th – July 14th, 2023
Husky Presented by the Houston Christian University Student Success Department’s Summer Launch Program, in coordination with the College of Science and Engineering, HuskySTEPS (Summer Transitional Education Program in STEM) is an immersive 5-day STEM summer bridge program designed to help incoming COSE freshman successfully transition to the rigor of university level STEM academics.
In addition to the exciting introduction to campus life and HCU community that Summer Launch is known for, future COSE participants also attend STEM specific workshops in math, science, engineering, study skills, and more. With a focus on math preparation, students build the analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to succeed and excel in their college level math courses.
This intuitively combined program provides incoming COSE freshman with a chance to experience the excitement of Summer Launch, forge friendships with students from both STEM and non-STEM majors, and get a sneak peak at science & engineering course work (including the opportunity to participate in a college level chemistry lab and drone coding workshops!). The integration of ALEKS Prep & Learning time into the daily schedule allows students to work towards improving their math knowledge in targeted areas, allows participants to not only gain confidence in much needed skills, but also the opportunity to re-test at the end of the program, potentially advancing their math placement for the fall and increasing the potential to graduate on time.
Take the right STEPS today to ensure your future LAUNCHES tomorrow!
