Biology Club & Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta)

Biology Club is an organization dedicated to any students who are interested in biology. Members learn about biological research methods, discuss scientific articles, listen to guest speakers from graduate schools, research labs, and other biology-related careers. Biology Club applications are accepted at the beginning of each semester.

Students who meet the national and HCU requirements are encouraged to apply for national membership to the HCU Chapter of Beta Beta Beta, Iota Omicron, in the Spring semester. Current members and Biology faculty welcome new members into the honor society at the Spring induction. National Honor Society Members serve as the club officers and officer applications are also accepted in the Spring for the following academic year.

Also, in the Spring semester, members attend the Beta Beta Beta SouthCentral Regional Convention. Participants from chapters in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana present their research projects as posters or oral presentations. Chapters can also submit Chapter History or Chapter E-History scrapbooks. Iota Omicron was the District II Most Outstanding Chapter in 2016 and 2017. The chapter has won many 1st Place awards for Chapter History or E-History and members have won research presentation awards. In 2022, Iota Omicron hosted the Regional Convention.

TriBeta was HCU’s Organization of the Year (2016) and Program of Year (2018). TriBeta won the inaugural COSE Cup (2021).
