Who Is Orientation For?

Honors College Orientation is required for all incoming Honors Scholars. Fall 2026 orientation will take place on campus at Houston Christian University from Wednesday, August 26 to Thursday, August 27. Students living on campus will be given the opportunity to move into their dorm rooms early on August 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Students who will commute during the semester will need to commute to orientation as on-campus housing for orientation will not be available. Check in for all students begins at 11:00 a.m. on August 26.

What Can I Expect from Orientation?

Students will receive information that is essential to their success within the Honors College as well as within their other courses at HCU. Among the scheduled activities are opportunities for students to speak with Honors College alumni, participate in classroom discussions, meet their Honors College mentor, and meet new friends.

What Is the Schedule Like?

Students can expect to hear from Honors College faculty, meet with their Honors College mentor, participate in discussion seminars, share meals with one another, learn about the Honors College traditions, and engage in team-building activities with their peers. Following the Honors College orientation, students will participate in HCU’s Welcome Days which begins the evening of August 27.
