Summer Launch
July 8 – 12, 2024
Summer Launch welcomes incoming freshmen into HCU by preparing them academically for the rigors of college and connecting them to students, faculty, and staff before fall classes begin.
The program includes 4 nights in the HCU residence halls, engagement with HCU professors and staff, daily breakout groups with HCU student mentors, campus exploration through the annual Campus Takeover event, preparation for the rigors of HCU academics, and the development of relationships with other HCU students.
For our STEM majors attending Summer Launch, the College of Science & Engineering is offering the STEM Breakaway track designed to help students successfully transition to the rigor of STEM academics by providing STEM-specific workshops in math, science, engineering, study skills, and more. With a focus on math remediation, students will build analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in college-level math.
The track includes:
- Hands-on STEM experiences in chemistry, biology, robotics, coding, and more!
- Connections with College of Science & Engineering professors and staff
- STEM-specific academic success strategies
- Daily breakout groups with current HCU STEM students

- Cost: $50 ($400 value) – HCU covers majority of cost, but spots are limited!
