Back The Pack

The Husky is more than just a symbol. More than just a mascot. Huskies work together toward a common goal – in a pack – to win the race. This Husky spirit defines our HCU community. It was true in 1963, when our first class of 239 students stepped onto campus, and it’s true today, as nearly 5,000 students carry that same spirit forward.

HCU Is Growing Exponentially

This fall, HCU is on track to welcome the largest Freshman class in our history – again. We admitted 954 Freshman Students in the Fall of 2025, and we are already projecting to surpass that number in the Fall of 2026. As enrollment grows, so does our need for your support.

10%
student body growth in 2024-2025
36%
freshmen enrollment growth between 2024 and 2025
600+
engineering students currently enrolled; 1,000 expected by Fall 2026

HCU’s Impressive Academic Achievements

HCU now has the only ABET-accredited Cyber Engineering Degree in the State of Texas.

The Archie W. Dunham College of Business is the only ACBSP accredited four-year business school in the greater Houston area.

Linda R. Dunham School of Nursing Students have a 97.6% NCLEX Passing Rate.

Art '73 and Robbie '75 Daniel Matching Gift

“Because of scholarships we received, HCU provided us a great college education and experience that prepared us for our futures. It is a blessing to have the opportunity to give back and play a small part in helping the students of tomorrow.”

Dr. Tom Wheeler '75 Matching Gift

“A great college education is a debt that can never be fully repaid.  However, continued installments can keep the dream alive for the next generation that follow us.”

Dr. Barbara Taylor-Cox '81 & Ray Cox '81 Matching Gift

Shared by Dr. Barbara Taylor-Cox ’81 as a reflection by Ray Cox ’81 on why they as a couple deemed it so worthy to continue to invest in HCU: “At HCU, students have the opportunity to receive a tremendous education that will prepare them for the worldly endeavors that are ahead, an education that will allow them to go forth and be successful in the world. In addition, however, during their time at HCU, students can be immersed in the word of God. They can be infused with relationships with fellow students, faculty, staff and administrators. These experiences will allow them to exude the fruits of the spirit that will make a difference for the kingdom of God wherever He leads them.”

Anonymous Donor '97 Matching Gift

Shared by our Anonymous Donor ’97: “My dedication to HCU is rooted in the exceptional people who make this university a home. Seeing the same mentorship I received extended now to my daughter, a Husky Pup Club member, reinforces why I give. Serving this institution is not just a duty; it is a joyful investment in a legacy that spans generations.”

Brooklyn Lacy
“I sat in my room for over half an hour on my floor crying and thanking God for the favor that he has placed on my life, time and time again. That moment [I received the scholarship] sealed the deal. In my heart of hearts, I knew where my first steps as a college freshman would be taken. I wholeheartedly believe if it was not for that tremendous blessing, I would not be able to call myself a Husky.”
