Minor in Biblical Languages
Houston Christian University’s Biblical Languages minor offers students the opportunity to delve into the ancient Greek and Hebrew foundations of Scripture. This 18-credit hour program is specifically designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the original languages of the Bible, equipping learners to uncover the profound truths and nuances of the Scriptures.
Course Requirements
The Biblical Languages minor begins with foundational coursework in both ancient biblical languages, providing essential skills in translation and interpretation:
- Hebrew Grammar I and II
- Greek Grammar I and II
Students then have the opportunity to deepen their language expertise through specialized reading and syntax courses:
- Hebrew Reading and Syntax
- Greek Reading and Syntax
- Any 4000-level GREK course
Many Biblical Languages minor graduates have gone on to successful careers as pastors, missionaries and teachers, while others have continued their studies through Houston Christian University’s graduate programs, including the Master of Arts in Theological Studies, Master of Arts in Christian Leadership or Master of Divinity. Students in the School of Christian Thought or non-ministry majors will find that the Biblical Languages minor provides the linguistic expertise and contextual insights necessary to engage with the Bible on a deeper level and share the timeless truths of the faith with others.
