2019 CCB Mentoring Conference

The 2019 annual Mentoring Conference will be held on November 20th from 5-7 pm in Dillon II. (This is a non-dinner event.)

 

Speakers:

Mike Rome


Mike Rome is CEO and Principal at Chilton Capital Management, working mainly on strategy, business development, and overseeing day to day activities for the firm. Mike is nationally recognized as a leading investment and wealth advisor to business owners, senior executives, and family offices. His thirty five plus year career includes experience in virtually every facet of the investment industry. Before joining Chilton, Mike was CEO of Texan Capital, and was a partner at Bridgeway Capital Management and AIM/Invesco, while leading offices for Merrill Lynch, Kidder Peabody, and Oppenheimer. He is also a Partner in a private-equity firm, Memorial Capital Partners.

Mike graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree, and was a two sport letterman in Football and Baseball. He furthered his studies in Portfolio Management at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, and in Behavioral Finance at Harvard University. He is active in the community and serves on a number of boards, including the City of Houston Higher Education Finance Corp., University of Kansas School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, University of Texas Libraries System, and Houston Christian University’s Center for Christianity in Business.

 


Mike Kern


Mike Kern has been President & Chief Executive Officer of Crossmark Global Investments and its related entities since May 2015. Before joining Crossmark, he was President of Stout Risius Ross, a financial advisory firm he had joined in 1996 as an analyst. During his 19 year tenure with Stout and before being appointed President, he served in a variety of roles including Managing Director in the Valuation & Financial Opinions Group, Head of the Investment Banking Group, CFO and COO. Raised in the Detroit area, Mike earned a B.S. in Finance and Business Economics from Wayne State University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation as well as the Series 7, 63, and 24 securities licenses. In 2006, he received Crain’s Detroit Business 40 Under 40 Award, an award given to young professional leaders. He is a member of the CFA Institute and Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). Mike devotes a significant amount of time to philanthropic activities, which is his passion. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Clint Capela CC15 Foundation and Embrace the Truth International, while also advising several churches throughout the country. He previously was a member of the Executive Board of Directors of Convoy of Hope, while also serving as Treasurer and Chairman of the Compensation and Audit Committees. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of International Aid. Mike resides in Houston, Texas with his wife, Amanda, and their four children.

 


Leah Faul


Leah Faul is the Owner and Lead Digital Strategist for 15000 Cubits, a digital marketing agency. She has previously served as President of the Houston Interactive Marketing Association and was named one of the 75 Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) influencers nationwide. Leah prides herself on being one step ahead of the digital marketing industry trends and is known for her expertise in content marketing, SEO, process development, and high-level marketing strategies.

 

 

 

 


Darren Shearer

Darren Shearer is the founder and CEO of High Bridge Media, a marketing agency specializing in publishing and promoting the world-changing ideas of inspiring thought leaders. Its imprint, High Bridge Books, has published more than 85 books since 2013.

Darren is also the director of the Theology of Business Institute, a global think tank with the mission of helping marketplace Christians to disciple their co-workers, companies, industries, and communities. He has authored three books, including Marketing Like Jesus: 25 Strategies to Change the World and The Marketplace Christian: A Practical Guide to Using Your Spiritual Gifts in Business.

A former Captain in the United States Air Force, Darren earned the United States Air Force Commendation Medal for his meritorious service in Kuwait during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He holds a M.A. in Practical Theology from Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA), an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Management from Pace University (New York, NY), and a B.A. in English from Charleston Southern University (Charleston, SC).

Darren and his wife, Marie, reside in Houston, Texas and have three young boys.
