In addition to the internal HCU scholarships, we have accumulated this list of scholarships from external sources that you might be eligible for. We do not have connections with any of these groups, and so we cannot answer any questions related to their details or requirements. If you find any new scholarships that we might list or learn any information that we should clarify here, please let us know.

Irma Gesche Scholarship Award This one-time award is given to high school students who have been selected based on their academic excellence, reference letters, potential for personal growth, the need for financial assistance, and the quality of the essay submitted based on the topic provided
• Applicants must be current residents of the state of Texas
• Applicants must plan to attend any accredited two-year or four-year college or university
• Applicants must demonstrate financial need

Julie Ann Jones Memorial Theological Scholarship • Preference given to residents of Washington County, TX, but all Texans may apply
• Applicants should be studying in any field of ministry, including sacred music and theological research
George & Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation Scholarship • High school seniors after the start of their senior year
• Houston-area high school seniors who are US citizens, and who attend schools or are homeschooled in the following eight counties: Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery or Waller
• Students who are citizens of the United States; students with Permanent Resident status are not eligible
• The Scholarships are awarded based on academics and financial need
The Irene S. Wischer Education Foundation Applicants must be:
• Citizens of the United States
• Residents of Texas
• Of good character with preference given to applicants who are Christians and attend church regularly
• Need for financial assistance, academic potential and ability
Champions for Christ Champions for Christ Foundation, Inc. has been granting scholarships for over 27 years to students who are committed to going into full-time Christian service
Hispanic Scholarship Fund- General College Scholarship • Must be of Hispanic Heritage Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for High School Students Minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for College and Graduate Students
• Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited not-for -profit four-year university or graduate school during the FALL of scholarship cycle year
• U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
• Complete FAFSA
• Complete state Dream Act financial aid application (if applicable)
Hurley Foundation Scholarship • Must attend a university, a four-year college or a two-year college
• Must be a US Citizen
• Restricted to residents of Arkansas, Louisiana, or Texas
• Restricted to students studying in Texas
• Restricted to students studying Religion/Theology
• Restricted to specific religious affiliations: Protestant
Memorial Baptist Church Foundation Each year, the Foundation reviews applications from highly qualified seminary students who need financial assistance. The Foundation selects some of these students to receive scholarships from the Foundation’s resources. Scholarship Applications are accepted from February 15 through May 15.

Qualifications: Applicants shall be US citizens, in training or ready to enter training for full-time Christian ministry with the intention of serving as a minister in a Baptist church. Applicants shall affirm a belief in the Baptist Faith and Message Statement of 1963.

Hope Pierce Tartt Scholarship Fund • Applicants must be a US citizen and a resident of Harrison, Marion, Panola, Upshur, or Gregg county, Texas
• Recipients must be enrolled full time
Irene S. Wischer Scholarship • Be a US citizen
• Be a legal resident of Texas for 12 consecutive months prior to completing the scholarship application
• Be a person of good character; per Mrs. Wischer’s instructions, preference will be given to “applicants who are Christians and attend church regularly”
• Demonstrate academic potential and ability
• Demonstrate a need for financial assistance
Glacer Family Charitable Foundation The Glaser Family Charitable Foundation scholarship program seeks to identify and support students who combine academic promise with character and a commitment to their community. It is interested in assisting individuals to develop their talents, broaden their horizons, and fulfill their dreams through educational success. Preference is given to Fannin County residents September for the Spring,

Inspire Women Scholarship Scholarship offered towards bachelors degree at selected accredited undergraduate bible college with major in:  Biblical Studies, Counseling, or Christian Leadership

Clara Stewart Watson Foundation Scholarship Fund • Upcoming graduate for a high school in Dallas or Tarrant County
• Apply during the spring semester of the year you graduate
• Rank in the top 5% of your class
• Be of good moral character
• Seriously intend to pursue and complete an academic or technical degree at a college or university in Texas
• Be in need of financial assistance
• File an application postmarked no later than April 15

Church Mutual Religious Scholars • Be enrolled in a full-time, advanced degree (postsecondary) religious studies program at an accredited theological seminary, college or university of higher learning, for the entire 2017-18 academic year
• Demonstrate personal impact throughout education, work experiences and volunteerism
• Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent
• Be committed to entering the practice of full-time ministry in the United States following completion of studies, including leading a denominational congregation, or worship group, or serving in religious leadership at a house of worship

Mary E. Bivins Foundation • Be a permanent resident of the northernmost 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle and a citizen of the United States of America
• Be an individual dedicated to seeking an undergraduate or graduate education leading to a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a field that prepares the student to preach the Christian religion
• Be classified as a college junior or senior or a graduate student by the first semester for which the scholarship would be effective
Baumberger Endowment Scholarship Graduating seniors of an accredited (TEA) high school within Bexar County, Texas, who cannot attend college without financial assistance February 15
Austin Community Foundation Various scholarships are available through the Foundation, with different eligibility requirements various
Francis Nathaniel Kennedy and Katheryn Padgett Kennedy Foundation • Grants shall be made to assist students who are committed to and are preparing for full-time careers in Christian ministry and service. Special consideration will be given to those applications endeavoring to enter the field of missions
• Applicant shall be considered first on the basis of need; taking into consideration any other financial resources – including assistance from family
• Applicants shall then be considered based on the following scholastic and geographic criteria: seminary or undergraduate students who are residents  of Laurens County; seminary or undergrad students who are residents of the State of South Carolina

Jim and Shirley Suttle Scholarship Fund ​We invite you to complete a Scholarship Application IF:

1) You plan to attend one of the institutions listed in the application instruction (see pull down menu), AND

2) You have a sibling also attending an ACSI member school or a post- secondary Christian based institution, (One application per family) OR

​3) You are a single mother and a past or present resident of Gracewood or Children’s Hope.

Applications for 2020-21 will be accepted until Monday, June 1, 2020.
