Sigma Tau Delta
Sigma Tau Delta is the name of the national (and international) English Honors Society. Candidates are initiated once a year in the spring and receive pins and certificates from the national organization. During initiation, the winners of the annual Danny Lee Lawrence creative writing awards for poetry and fiction read aloud their winning submissions. Since its founding, the Delta Lambda chapter of Sigma Tau Delta has devoted itself to encouraging HCU students both to appreciate the great literature of the past and present and to produce their own poetry and fiction. In all we do, we strive to live up to our national motto: Sincerity, Truth, and Design.

Initiation Requirements
- Completed at least four literature classes at HCU
- Have at least a 3.0 GPA in all your literature classes
- Have at least a 3.0 overall GPA
- Pay $50 one-time dues to join the national society
