Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc – Sigma Theta Chapter

The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve the social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of service to all mankind.

Membership Requirements

An undergraduate, to be considered a candidate for membership in Sigma
Theta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, must be a woman of high ethical and moral standards, matriculating as a full-time student at Houston Christian University, located at 7502 Fondren Road, Houston, Texas, and must have creditably completed one grading period at Houston Christian University.

Undergraduate candidates must have attained the cumulative average of C+ and the semester average of C+ in the semester immediately prior to submitting an application for membership. Candidates must provide written evidence of detailed community/campus involvement from a director or advisor of the activity or program. Undergraduates desiring to become a candidate for membership must attend the official

Rush which will be announced at least two (2) weeks in advance.  Flyers will be posted giving the date, location, and time of Sigma Theta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Rush activity.  Any individual who does not attend the Rush activity is ineligible to be considered for candidacy during this period.
