Dr. Robert B. Towery, professor of chemistry, and HBU student Luis Macias presented their research, “Reactivity of water soluble diruthenium compounds with DNA” at a poster session at the American Chemical Society Regional Meeting in Galveston on November 11. Cisplatin is a well-known cancer-fighting drug that contains the metal platinum. Dr. Towery and Macias’s research seeks to find other metal complexes such as those with ruthenium that might have a similar use.
